Yvonne was born in England, spent her childhood in Canada, her teens in Jamaica and completed post-graduate film studies at Bristol University. Recruited by BBC Television, she produced & directed over 50 hours of original drama & documentary programmes. She was Series Creator of “Ebony” the first network series featuring African Caribbean culture on British television.
After 12 years at BBC TV Yvonne worked on a variety of independent productions. Her first feature film was "One Love" (2003) an award-winning romantic comedy for which she was lead producer and story creator. Starring Ky-Mani Marley, Cherine Anderson and Idris Elba "One Love" was filmed entirely on location in Jamaica. She directed and produced "Power of Three" (2011) a comedy drama starring Toyah Willcox, Robin Craig and Shirley Ann Field, filmed in Belsize Park & Hampstead in London. Yvonne continues to write, produce & directed independent productions for television and corporate clients. Recent projects include "Hanging Out" (2012) about diversity in youth culture in London; "Jamaica Hidden Histories" (2013) and "Automobile Design: The Art of Paul Deutschman" premiered on PBS Mountain Lake, New York in January 2015.
Throughout her career (see full list of credits) Yvonne has retained her ties to the many countries she has visited and in which she has lived. She credits her formative years in Canada with the determination and perseverance required to bring in a film project on time and within budget. Her ties to Jamaica remain especially strong and are a reminder that hard work should be balanced with music, art and joie de vivre.
